Shawhan Pulls Out a Win at Mazda Raceway in Touring Car

Michael Shawhan managed to pull out a win in the Touring Class of the United States Touring Car Championship by making a remarkable pass on the last lap at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. His teammate Matt Cresci led all laps in the Super Touring class while Daniel Akhromstev won the GT class, and Joshua Allan won the Sportsman class easily.
The Touring Car class was extremely competitive, with the top seven cars separated by a few tenths of a second. Because of that, the start would be vital, and Dave Brown used the all-wheel drive of the Hawk/CCI/Works Mitsubishi Lancer to leap-frog to the lead from his sixth-place starting position.

German Touring Series Attacks Mid-Ohio

The GTS4 field was set at Mid-Ohio in April with Mike Ward on the pole and John Mauro on the outside, but come race time Mauro was held in grid for appearing too late.
The GTS5 pole was then left to Brian Hicks followed by Todd Sloan and Robert Wisen. Sloan worked his way up to the front by lap 11. Mauro charged through 62 cars and by lap 12 he was contending for the lead with Sloan. After pressure from Mauro, Sloan spun entering Madness to leave the lead to Mauro. Mauro took first followed by Hicks and Wisen.
In GTS4 Mike Ward had a lead at the start no one could overcome, and led from start to finish. Denny Pedri charged to the front, passing all but Ward and took second with Brant Geire in third. In post race dyno activity Pedri was found to have too much power.

German Touring Series Takes on Roebling Road Raceway

Five drivers and teams packed up their rigs to brave the interstates, and descended upon Roebling Road Raceway for the fourth round of the NASA Southeast 2016 race season. A return to prominence by two drivers and their championship-winning cars emerged throughout the course of the weekend, and the arrival of a new DynoJet system to the Southeast Region played a major role in determining the GTS2 winner Saturday.
The weekend began for the Fandango Racing Inc. 2002 M3 much like they have since the team returned to the series after an 18-month hiatus: chasing electrical gremlins that were causing havoc in the SMG II electro-hydraulic system to enact a simple up or down shift.

German Touring Series Highlights from Road Atlanta

Before the racers could get on track, the NASA Southeast technicians needed about an hour to repair the timing/scoring loop. Seems the landscapers had dug it up and forgot to tell anyone.
For the Lightning race, GTS1 and GTS2 cars started in the third wave of the 80-plus car field. Pole for GTS2 had Vasile Balan, who qualified his BMW E36 M3 with a 1:44.6, and led all nine laps to finish first. He was followed by Matthew Agurkis in his BMW 325i, team car Joe’s Racing No. 2 with Joe Sullivan Sr. in his Porsche 944 S2, and Patrick Laughton in his Audi A4. GTS1 was all Porsche 944, with top qualifier Joey Sullivan driving the team car Joe’s Racing No. 1 taking the win followed by Larry Helm and John Mock.
